In 1905 New York, Esther, a gifted Black seamstress, sews intimate apparel for everyone from society women to prostitutes.

Longing for love, she begins exchanging letters with George, a Caribbean man who soon proposes—sight unseen. Yet, her heart is drawn to a kind Hasidic shopkeeper. When George arrives, Esther must face a future she never anticipated.

It’s 1981 and the world is hungry for a royal wedding, but is the 20 year-old bride prepared for what comes next? DIANA, with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music and lyrics by David Bryan, tells the story of an icon whose modern world view challenged the Royal Family’s legacy and rule. From her early days of meeting Prince Charles, to her departure from the monarchy with the hope of a bright future ahead, DIANA is the story of a generation.  

 

Featuring a cast of local Charlotte actors including Ava Smith as Diana, Michael Tuck as Prince Charles, Elyse Tuck as Camilla, and Allison Rhinehardt as Queen Elizabeth II, many of Diana's iconic looks, and the Queen City Concerts Orchestra, DIANA is a show not to be missed!
